Scuba Diving BCDs

Start with your preferred configuration and the conditions you dive in. Try the harness with the exposure suit you expect to wear, then check shoulder and waist adjustment, access to controls and the fit around your torso. Use the size chart for the exact BCD rather than assuming your usual clothing size will match.

• Lift and cylinder compatibility: check the selected size and configuration against your equipment.
• Weight system: check integrated weight and trim-pocket capacities separately, and confirm which pockets are supplied.
• Storage and inclusions: compare pockets, attachment points, inflator and cylinder-band inclusions.
• Travel size: compare dry weight and packed dimensions for the complete configuration.

• Jacket style BCDs use a wraparound air cell. Compare the adjustment range and pocket layout while wearing your usual suit.
• Rear inflation BCDs place the air cell behind you. Compare harness fit and access to weights and accessories.
• Backplate and wing systems use separate components. Confirm the plate, harness, wing and cylinder attachments included in the configuration.

For a dive holiday, compare travel BCDs using both packed dimensions and dry weight. For sidemount BCDs, work from the equipment configuration used in your training. Check all included components before treating a modular selection as a complete system.
