Aqualung Axiom Women's BCD
Carry your cylinder comfortably with the Axiom’s Wrapture harness and swivel shoulder buckles. This jacket-style BCD combines supportive body contact with integrated weights and useful storage, making it a practical choice for regular recreational diving.
Features and benefits
- Support close to the body. The Wrapture harness positions the cylinder close to your back and distributes its load through the harness, helping reduce the feeling of the cylinder pulling away from you.
- Accessible weight handling. The SureLock II pockets use a mechanical locking connection to secure removable ballast. Check that each pocket is fully engaged after loading and keep the release handles unobstructed.
- GripLock cylinder attachment. The GripLock buckle separates cylinder-size adjustment from closing the band, making repeat cylinder changes more straightforward once the band is set correctly.
- Useful storage. Storage includes 2 zipped utility pockets. Keep accessories together in the available pockets.
- Equipment attachment. D-ring layout: 6 stainless steel; 2 plastic. The attachment points give clipped accessories a consistent, reachable position and help prevent loose gear from trailing below you.
- Shorter-torso design. The shorter torso and scalloped sides provide a different fit from the standard Axiom harness.
- Swivel shoulder buckles. The shoulder buckles can change angle as the straps settle around your body, helping the webbing lie more naturally across your shoulders.
- Zipped utility pockets. Two enclosed pockets keep small accessories together during the dive.
Fit and configuration
Women’s fit. Choose the appropriate size for your torso and check it while wearing your normal exposure suit. Fit details: Shorter torso and scalloped sides. Choose enough lift for your complete cylinder and equipment configuration. Lift capacity, ballast-pocket capacity and the BCD’s dry weight describe different things; use the size-specific values in Technical Specs when comparing options.
Care, rinsing and storage
After every dive, rinse the BCD, harness, buckles and accessible fittings with fresh water, paying attention to salt and sand around the inflator, dump valves and weight-pocket releases. Follow the Aqualung manual’s procedure for the fitted inflation system, including keeping the power inflator pressurised where specified.
Dive Gear Australia recommends Gear Aid Revivex BC Cleaner 10 oz for cleaning the outer surfaces and internal air cell. It helps remove salt, chlorine and residue while conditioning suitable rubber and plastic parts. Use the dilution on the cleaner’s label and follow the equipment manual.
Rinse the air cell internally through the opening specified in the manual, using fresh water and the recommended cleaner dilution when needed. Gently rotate the equipment to reach the inside surfaces, drain through the specified outlet, then rinse until the water runs clear. Drain thoroughly before drying.
Allow the BCD to dry in the shade, then store it slightly inflated in a cool, dry place without tight folds or heavy gear on top. Before diving, check that it holds air and that inflation controls, dump valves, straps and weight releases work correctly. Follow the manufacturer’s service schedule and have leaks, sticking controls or damage checked by an authorised technician.
