How to measure your BCD
- Ask someone to help. Stand upright, look forward and keep your feet flat on the floor. Use a soft tape held close to the body without pulling it tight.
- Height: measure barefoot from the floor to the top of your head.
- Chest or bust: measure around the fullest part, keeping the tape level.
- Waist: measure around your natural waist between your ribs and hips.
- Check the BCD over the exposure suit and layers you will dive in. Adjust the shoulder and waist straps, then check that you can breathe and move comfortably with the BCD inflated.
- Use the chart for the exact BCD model. Height and weight are guides; waist and harness fit also matter.

Oceanic Photon Air BCD Women's
Pack a BCD built around travel without giving up integrated weights. The Photon Air combines a modular back-inflation layout with independent shoulder and waist adjustment, while technopolymer hardware keeps the configuration focused on practical, portable diving.
Features and benefits
- Harness support. Contoured shoulder straps and a waist belt fit around the modular Photon frame, with lumbar support cushioning your lower back. Adjust the shoulder and waist sections independently to suit your torso and exposure suit.
- Accessible weight handling. Integrated pockets hold removable ballast within the BCD, reducing reliance on a separate weight belt. Check that the pockets are fully secured after loading, and keep their quick-release controls accessible.
- Optional utility storage. Compatible utility pockets can be added where needed, letting you choose storage for your actual accessories while keeping the basic setup uncluttered.
- Equipment attachment. D-ring layout: Moulded nylon shoulder and hip D-rings. The attachment points give clipped accessories a consistent, reachable position and help prevent loose gear from trailing below you.
- Durable construction. Construction uses 420D UV-resistant nylon and 3D mesh. The fabric protects the buoyancy structure from everyday contact with equipment; rinse it after use and inspect high-wear areas regularly.
Fit and configuration
Women’s fit. Choose the appropriate size for your torso and check it while wearing your normal exposure suit. Fit details: Independent shoulder and waist adjustment within the selected size. Choose enough lift for your complete cylinder and equipment configuration. Care, rinsing and storage
After every dive, rinse the BCD, harness, buckles and accessible fittings with fresh water, paying attention to salt and sand around the inflator, dump valves and weight-pocket releases. Follow the Oceanic manual’s procedure for the fitted inflation system, including keeping the power inflator pressurised where specified.
Dive Gear Australia recommends Gear Aid Revivex BC Cleaner 10 oz for cleaning the outer surfaces and internal air cell. It helps remove salt, chlorine and residue while conditioning suitable rubber and plastic parts. Use the dilution on the cleaner’s label and follow the equipment manual.
Rinse the air cell internally through the opening specified in the manual, using fresh water and the recommended cleaner dilution when needed. Gently rotate the equipment to reach the inside surfaces, drain through the specified outlet, then rinse until the water runs clear. Drain thoroughly before drying.
Allow the BCD to dry in the shade, then store it slightly inflated in a cool, dry place without tight folds or heavy gear on top. Before diving, check that it holds air and that inflation controls, dump valves, straps and weight releases work correctly. Follow the manufacturer’s service schedule and have leaks, sticking controls or damage checked by an authorised technician.
