Check the complete sock and fin combination before choosing a size.
Use the sock’s size guidance and check it with your child’s fins.
Lightweight Lycra or stretch-fabric socks add a thin layer between your skin and suitable fin pockets or boots. Neoprene socks come in different thicknesses, while thermal fabric models have their own construction and intended uses. Compare the individual product’s material, seams, ankle coverage and sizing.
Suitable socks can help reduce rubbing, but they also change the fit. A thicker sock takes up more room in a fin pocket or boot. Follow the fin manufacturer’s footwear advice and try the complete combination; some fins are designed for bare feet. Socks should not be used to force an unsuitable fin size to fit.
Choose children’s fin socks by the product’s size guidance and check the fit with their fins. A junior label or stretchy fabric does not guarantee the right fit. Where foot-length measurements are supplied, use the stated centimetre range as a guide and follow the model’s measuring instructions.
Browse snorkelling fins or kids’ fins. For footwear, compare dive boots and reef shoes and water shoes. Lightweight fabric socks do not replace the sole protection of appropriate footwear.
