Aqualung Axiom i3+ Men’s Dive BCD
Keep buoyancy control within reach with the Axiom i3+ side lever. This weight-integrated jacket pairs Aqualung’s lever-operated inflation system with a supportive Wrapture harness, giving divers an alternative to the conventional raised corrugated inflator hose.
Features and benefits
- Support close to the body. The Wrapture harness positions the cylinder close to your back and distributes its load through the harness, helping reduce the feeling of the cylinder pulling away from you.
- Side-lever buoyancy control. The side-mounted i3+ lever controls inflation and the linked exhaust valves from a consistent hand position. This gives you a different control layout from a conventional shoulder inflator; practise its operation with your complete kit.
- Accessible weight handling. The SureLock II pockets use a mechanical locking connection to secure removable ballast. Check that each pocket is fully engaged after loading and keep the release handles unobstructed.
- GripLock cylinder attachment. The GripLock buckle separates cylinder-size adjustment from closing the band, making repeat cylinder changes more straightforward once the band is set correctly.
- Useful storage. Two zipped pockets keep small accessories together and within reach.
- Equipment attachment. D-ring layout: 6 stainless steel; 2 plastic. The attachment points give clipped accessories a consistent, reachable position and help prevent loose gear from trailing below you.
- Durable construction. Construction uses 420D nylon. The fabric protects the buoyancy structure from everyday contact with equipment; rinse it after use and inspect high-wear areas regularly.
- Swivel shoulder buckles. The buckles change angle with the shoulder straps, helping the webbing settle against your body without twisting.
Fit and configuration
Select the appropriate size or harness adjustment for your body and exposure suit. Fit details: Adjustable shoulder, waist and chest straps. Choose enough lift for your complete cylinder and equipment configuration. Lift capacity, ballast-pocket capacity and the BCD’s dry weight describe different things; use the size-specific values in Technical Specs when comparing options.
Care, rinsing and storage
After every dive, rinse the BCD, harness, buckles and accessible fittings with fresh water, paying attention to salt and sand around the inflator, dump valves and weight-pocket releases. Follow the Aqualung manual’s procedure for the fitted inflation system, including keeping the power inflator pressurised where specified.
Dive Gear Australia recommends Gear Aid Revivex BC Cleaner 10 oz for cleaning the outer surfaces and internal air cell. It helps remove salt, chlorine and residue while conditioning suitable rubber and plastic parts. Use the dilution on the cleaner’s label and follow the equipment manual.
Use the model’s specified internal-rinsing opening and procedure. An i3 or i3+ lever-control system has a different arrangement from a conventional inflator hose, so follow its manual when introducing rinse water and draining the bladder.
Gently circulate the diluted cleaner through the air cell, drain as directed, then rinse internally with fresh water until clear. Drain thoroughly before drying.
Allow the BCD to dry in the shade, then store it slightly inflated in a cool, dry place without tight folds or heavy gear on top. Before diving, check that it holds air and that inflation controls, dump valves, straps and weight releases work correctly. Follow the manufacturer’s service schedule and have leaks, sticking controls or damage checked by an authorised technician.
