Apeks EXOTEC-S BCD
Choose your EXOTEC-S in black/orange or black/grey, with S/M, M/L and XL/XXL sizes. Each purchase includes one BCD in your chosen colour and size.
Move more freely with a BCD that follows your body. The Exotec-S pairs its pivoting BioReact waist with an adjustable backplate and harness, helping you bend, turn and settle into your diving position without the waist section feeling fixed in place.
Features and benefits
- BioReact movement. The articulated waist can pivot as you bend and turn, helping the BCD follow your body while the harness continues to support the cylinder.
- Support close to the body. The Wrapture harness positions the cylinder close to your back and distributes its load through the harness, helping reduce the feeling of the cylinder pulling away from you.
- Accessible weight handling. The SureLock mechanical release pockets use a mechanical locking connection to secure removable ballast. Check that each pocket is fully engaged after loading and keep the release handles unobstructed.
- Useful storage. Expandable side pockets fold flat when empty, keeping everyday accessory storage close to hand.
- Water-shedding outer. The smooth Armoguard slick-skin outer resists abrasion, rinses clean easily and dries quickly. This makes it practical for repeated dives and regular cleaning.
- G-hook chest fastening. The G-hook provides a compact chest-strap connection that can be opened and closed with one hand while you fit the BCD.
- GripTek contact fabric. The textured contact fabric helps resist sliding against your exposure suit, supporting the fit established by the harness adjustments.
- Dedicated equipment sleeves. Separate sleeves provide a home for the pressure gauge and alternate second stage, helping keep both accessible without leaving them loose against the BCD.
Fit and configuration
Unisex fit. Select the appropriate harness or BCD size and adjust it with your usual exposure suit. Fit details: Height-adjustable backplate with adjustable shoulder and waist sections. An optional crotch strap is available separately. Choose enough lift for your complete cylinder and equipment configuration. Lift capacity, ballast-pocket capacity and the BCD’s dry weight describe different things; use the size-specific values in Technical Specs when comparing options.
Care, rinsing and storage
After every dive, rinse the BCD, harness, buckles and accessible fittings with fresh water, paying attention to salt and sand around the inflator, dump valves and weight-pocket releases. Follow the Apeks manual’s procedure for the fitted inflation system, including keeping the power inflator pressurised where specified.
Dive Gear Australia recommends Gear Aid Revivex BC Cleaner 10 oz for cleaning the outer surfaces and internal air cell. It helps remove salt, chlorine and residue while conditioning suitable rubber and plastic parts. Use the dilution on the cleaner’s label and follow the equipment manual.
Rinse the air cell internally through the opening specified in the manual, using fresh water and the recommended cleaner dilution when needed. Gently rotate the equipment to reach the inside surfaces, drain through the specified outlet, then rinse until the water runs clear. Drain thoroughly before drying.
Allow the BCD to dry in the shade, then store it slightly inflated in a cool, dry place without tight folds or heavy gear on top. Before diving, check that it holds air and that inflation controls, dump valves, straps and weight releases work correctly. Follow the manufacturer’s service schedule and have leaks, sticking controls or damage checked by an authorised technician.
