The Garmin Descent Mk3i, a top-of-the-line fitness (smart) watch and dive computer, boasts Garmin’s innovative SubWave sonar technology. This technology enables diver-to-diver communication through pre-set messages and monitoring up to 8 tanks’ pressure and depths when paired with one or more Descent T2 transmitters.
The Descent Mk3i offers a diverse range of dive modes, catering to scuba, freediving, CCR, and gauge modes, making it adaptable to virtually any diver. A built-in LED flashlight illuminates low-light conditions, both underwater and on land, complementing the bright 1.4” AMOLED display with a scratch-resistant sapphire lens.
Diving deeper is facilitated by the 200-meter dive-rated case and metal leakproof inductive buttons. The integrated compass and DiveView maps provide bathymetric depth contours for over 4,000 dive sites, aiding in finding suitable dive locations and enhancing underwater orientation. Multi-band GPS technology ensures high location accuracy on land and at entry/exit diving spots (please note that GPS tracking is not available underwater).
A unique feature of the Garmin Mk3 series is the Dive Readiness Tool, which assesses the user’s overall diving readiness based on lifestyle factors like sleep, exercise, stress, and jet lag. This tool empowers users to make informed decisions when planning dives.
Beyond its dive capabilities, the Garmin Descent Mk3i serves as a comprehensive smart fitness watch. On land, users can access a wide variety of sport apps, including running, swimming, surfing, and hiking, while health apps like sleep monitoring, wrist-based heart rate, Pulse Ox, and more track their exercise routine and health levels. The Recovery Time and VO2 Max features help set realistic goals and ensure adequate rest between training sessions.
The Descent Mk3i connects with compatible smartphones, offering Garmin Pay for contactless payments, music storage to keep you entertained during training, smart notifications, and the ability to connect to the Garmin Dive App for downloading your dives and maintaining your log. Additionally, it has a safety feature that sends your live location to emergency contacts if the watch detects an accident, making it ideal for solo adventure enthusiasts.
