Apeks XL4 Oxygen Regulator
The XL4 Oxygen brings a compact regulator layout to a dedicated oxygen-service configuration. Its low-bulk second stage and over-balanced first stage suit divers building a carefully specified stage or decompression setup, with oxygen cleanliness maintained throughout the complete system.
Features and benefits
- Over-balanced first stage. The diaphragm mechanism increases intermediate pressure slightly faster than surrounding pressure as you descend, helping compensate for denser breathing gas at depth.
- Dry environmental chamber. The sealed chamber keeps water and sediment away from the first-stage spring mechanism and supports resistance to freezing in cold water.
- Balanced second stage. Pneumatic balancing reduces the force needed to open the demand valve, helping the second stage respond smoothly as you inhale.
- Venturi control. The lever changes airflow assistance inside the second stage. Use the pre-dive setting for surface handling and the dive setting as directed in the manual.
- Comfo-Bite mouthpiece. The silicone palate bridge supports the second stage with less need to clench your jaw, which can make longer dives more comfortable.
- Compact oxygen-service setup. The compact body suits a carefully arranged stage or decompression cylinder. Maintain oxygen cleanliness throughout the complete regulator, cylinder and gas-supply system.
Setup and compatibility
Dedicated oxygen-service model. Maintain oxygen-clean condition throughout filling, handling and servicing, and confirm the complete system is suitable for the intended mixture. Follow Apeks oxygen-service requirements.
Care, rinsing and storage
Maintain this regulator’s oxygen-clean condition throughout handling, use and storage. After a dive, follow the Apeks oxygen-regulator manual’s rinsing procedure, using a compatible cylinder and gas supply that preserve oxygen cleanliness. Keep the complete system pressurised while submerging the stages and connected hoses in clean fresh water, with the cylinder secured.
Keep the system pressurised throughout rinsing. Lift it out and dry the first stage and cylinder connection before closing the valve, releasing pressure and disconnecting. Fit a clean, dry dust cap. Avoid oils, grease and cleaners that are not approved for this oxygen-clean equipment; ordinary wetsuit shampoo is not a substitute for an oxygen-cleaning procedure.
Dry in the shade and store protected from contamination with the hoses loosely curved. Inspect the mouthpiece, hoses and connections before use. Follow the manual’s service schedule and use an authorised Apeks technician trained in oxygen service for repairs, internal adjustments or restoring oxygen cleanliness.
