How to measure your BCD

Aqualung waist and over-the-shoulder measurement points — Open full-size measuring guide

Waist: measure at the waistline shown in the diagram, rather than using the size on your jeans. Keep the tape level.
Over the shoulder (OTS): run the tape from your waistline at the back, over one shoulder, to your waistline at the front.
Check the BCD over the exposure suit and layers you will dive in. Adjust the shoulder and waist straps, then check that you can breathe and move comfortably with the BCD inflated.
Use the chart for the exact BCD model. Height and weight are guides; waist and harness fit also matter.

Aqualung Wave Bcd 2022

Keep your setup straightforward with the Aqualung Wave. Its jacket layout, adjustable waist and sliding chest strap make it a practical option for recreational use, while multiple octopus-storage positions help you arrange the alternate air source where it is accessible.

Features and benefits

Fit adjustment. The sliding chest strap lets you set its height across your torso, while the adjustable waist secures the BCD around your exposure suit.
Alternate-air organisation. Three octopus-storage positions let you choose a location that suits your hose layout. Stow the alternate so it remains easy for you and your buddy to identify and reach.
Durable construction. Construction uses ResisteK. The fabric protects the buoyancy structure from everyday contact with equipment; rinse it after use and inspect high-wear areas regularly.
Carry handle. The backpack handle gives you a defined grip for moving the BCD during setup. Support the complete cylinder assembly appropriately when lifting it.

Fit and configuration

Select the appropriate size or harness adjustment for your body and exposure suit. Fit details: Sliding chest strap and adjustable waist. Choose enough lift for your complete cylinder and equipment configuration. Lift capacity, ballast-pocket capacity and the BCD’s dry weight describe different things; use the size-specific values in Technical Specs when comparing options.

Care, rinsing and storage

After every dive, rinse the BCD, harness, buckles and accessible fittings with fresh water, paying attention to salt and sand around the inflator, dump valves and weight-pocket releases. Follow the Aqualung manual’s procedure for the fitted inflation system, including keeping the power inflator pressurised where specified.

Dive Gear Australia recommends Gear Aid Revivex BC Cleaner 10 oz for cleaning the outer surfaces and internal air cell. It helps remove salt, chlorine and residue while conditioning suitable rubber and plastic parts. Use the dilution on the cleaner’s label and follow the equipment manual.

Rinse the air cell internally through the opening specified in the manual, using fresh water and the recommended cleaner dilution when needed. Gently rotate the equipment to reach the inside surfaces, drain through the specified outlet, then rinse until the water runs clear. Drain thoroughly before drying.

Allow the BCD to dry in the shade, then store it slightly inflated in a cool, dry place without tight folds or heavy gear on top. Before diving, check that it holds air and that inflation controls, dump valves, straps and weight releases work correctly. Follow the manufacturer’s service schedule and have leaks, sticking controls or damage checked by an authorised technician.
