Aqualung Dimension BCD
Choose back inflation with the support of Aqualung’s Wrapture harness. The Dimension keeps the buoyancy cell behind you and places integrated weight storage within reach, making it appealing if you want an open front area without moving to a separate backplate-and-wing system.
Features and benefits
- Support close to the body. The Wrapture harness positions the cylinder close to your back and distributes its load through the harness, helping reduce the feeling of the cylinder pulling away from you.
- Accessible weight handling. The SureLock II pockets use a mechanical locking connection to secure removable ballast. Check that each pocket is fully engaged after loading and keep the release handles unobstructed.
- Trim-weight positioning. The trim pockets let you place part of your ballast near the cylinder to help adjust your position in the water. Keep the distinction between trim ballast and the system’s ditchable weights clear.
- Low-profile dump valves. The low-profile valves sit close to the BCD to reduce protruding hardware. The right-shoulder pull gives you an additional venting control; practise locating it in your complete equipment.
- Rolled collar. The rolled collar cushions the upper edge where the BCD rests around your neck, helping make carrying the fitted system more comfortable.
Fit and configuration
Select the appropriate size or harness adjustment for your body and exposure suit. Choose enough lift for your complete cylinder and equipment configuration. Lift capacity, ballast-pocket capacity and the BCD’s dry weight describe different things; use the size-specific values in Technical Specs when comparing options.
Care, rinsing and storage
After every dive, rinse the BCD, harness, buckles and accessible fittings with fresh water, paying attention to salt and sand around the inflator, dump valves and weight-pocket releases. Follow the Aqualung manual’s procedure for the fitted inflation system, including keeping the power inflator pressurised where specified.
Dive Gear Australia recommends Gear Aid Revivex BC Cleaner 10 oz for cleaning the outer surfaces and internal air cell. It helps remove salt, chlorine and residue while conditioning suitable rubber and plastic parts. Use the dilution on the cleaner’s label and follow the equipment manual.
Rinse the air cell internally through the opening specified in the manual, using fresh water and the recommended cleaner dilution when needed. Gently rotate the equipment to reach the inside surfaces, drain through the specified outlet, then rinse until the water runs clear. Drain thoroughly before drying.
Allow the BCD to dry in the shade, then store it slightly inflated in a cool, dry place without tight folds or heavy gear on top. Before diving, check that it holds air and that inflation controls, dump valves, straps and weight releases work correctly. Follow the manufacturer’s service schedule and have leaks, sticking controls or damage checked by an authorised technician.
