Rob Allen Samburu Carbon Railgun 100–140 cm
The Rob Allen Samburu combines a carbon-fibre rail barrel with twin 16 mm latex rubbers and a 7.5 mm spring-steel shaft. Its open muzzle, Vecta2 handle and loading butt provide a familiar setup for divers wanting a carbon railgun in 100, 110, 120, 130 or 140 cm lengths. Each barrel is individually airbrushed at the Rob Allen factory, giving its camouflage finish its own character.
Carbon construction with an integrated shaft rail
The barrel is made using a continuous pull-winding process that places the carbon fibres under tension during manufacture. An integral carbon rail supports the shaft along the barrel and adds stiffness to the assembly. The barrel connections use an internal spigot and external shrouds to spread the load around the fixing points.
Factory checks include an air test after barrel manufacture and a hydraulic test after assembly. AUP describes the assembled-barrel test as equivalent to 40 metres of water pressure for one hour.
7.5 mm shaft with two raised loading fins
The supplied shaft is made from oil-quenched carbon-alloy spring steel and has two raised loading fins/pins. Twin 16 mm blue latex rubbers provide the power, with Dyneema bridles connecting to the shaft’s loading points. The open muzzle leaves a clear view along the barrel when aiming and arranging the shooting line.
Vecta2 handle and loading support
The Vecta2 handle and mechanism use a glass-reinforced nylon housing with a stainless-steel line release. The shaped grip helps you hold the gun consistently, and the rear loading butt provides a stable contact point against your loading pad. An integrated dovetail bracket provides a mounting point for a compatible reel.
On the 110 cm, 120 cm, 130 cm and 140 cm models, an internal balancing weight sits behind the muzzle to help manage the gun’s balance and muzzle movement. The gun is rigged with abrasion-resistant monofilament shooting line.
Care, rinsing and storage
Rinse the unloaded gun with fresh water after every dive, including the muzzle, shaft, loading fins, line release and handle. Allow it to dry in the shade before storage, keeping the rubbers away from heat and direct sunlight. Inspect the carbon barrel for impact damage and check the rubbers, Dyneema bridles, shaft and shooting line for wear before use. Follow Rob Allen’s maintenance instructions and protect the barrel and shaft during transport.
