Work towards your first professional PADI rating with Dive Gear Australia’s Divemaster programme. You will develop dive theory, demonstration-quality skills, rescue ability and the planning and supervision skills used when supporting other divers.
Training combines knowledge development, water skills and stamina work, practical workshops and supervised experience with PADI Instructors. Discuss your goals, current qualifications, logged dives and availability with our Hallam team before enrolling.

Theory for dive leadership
Build the knowledge used when supervising certified divers and assisting with training. The topics connect physics, physiology, equipment, decompression planning, standards and the practical business of diving.

Water skills, stamina and rescue
Refine your scuba-skill demonstrations and practise rescue and stamina exercises under instructor supervision. The assessments are part of the course requirements; prepare with your instructor for the current performance standards.

Practical supervision experience
Apply the theory in workshops, site preparation, briefings and supervised work with instructors and divers. The practical assessments help you organise activities and recognise the responsibilities of a dive leader.

Internship- candidates will assist PADI Instructors with a list of PADI courses and programs.
Please note that Boat dive costs on these courses are not included in the Divemaster course cost.
Entry requirements
- PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or qualifying certification from another training organisation
- PADI Rescue Diver certification or qualifying certification from another training organisation
- Have proof of EFR Primary and Secondary Care or equivalent CPR and first aid training valid within 24 months of course commencement
- Have a medical clearance signed by a physician. The medical must be valid within 12 months before the start of the course (and also current when you are certified)
- Have 40 logged dives to start, 60 for certification
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Note that qualifying certifications from other diver training organisation may apply – ask your PADI Instructor.
Required materials and personal equipment
The following materials are required by you before the beginning of the Divemaster course and are available at Dive Gear Australia.

In addition to the required materials, you will need a full set of scuba, snorkelling equipment and exposure protection for 12 deg C (winter) – 22 deg C (summer).

- Rural, remote & offshore: rural means anywhere outside metropolitan areas. Carrier availability and additional charges may apply, including for island and territory destinations. Our team will contact you if an extra freight quote is needed.

Contact us within 30 days of delivery to request a refund, exchange or optional store credit on eligible unused goods within Australia. Refunds go to the original payment method. Keep goods clean and undamaged with tags, original packaging and all accessories. No restocking fee applies to eligible returns meeting these conditions.
For change-of-mind returns and size exchanges, you pay return postage and replacement shipping. Original delivery charges are not refunded. Water-tested goods, clearly marked clearance items and genuinely custom-made or personalised items are excluded from change-of-mind returns. Ordinary discounted goods remain eligible.

How do I choose the right size?
Use the product's size chart where available and compare your measurements with the guide for that brand. Sizing varies between brands and products. Still unsure? For fins and boots, tell us which socks or dive boots you will wear.
How do I check availability?
Select your required options, such as colour and size, to see availability for that variation. “Available to order” means the item may need to be sourced before dispatch.
