The Oceanic DELTA 5 + eDX is a versatile regulator for recreational divers who want adjustable breathing, a comfortable mouthpiece and a sealed first stage for varied conditions. Its metal second-stage valve and heat exchanger make it a useful choice when your diving includes cooler water as well as warm-water trips.
Features and benefits
Set the breathing resistance to suit you
The pneumatically balanced second stage reduces the effect of changing supply pressure on inhalation effort. Oceanic’s Dynamic Adjustment Technology helps maintain your chosen setting as the dive progresses, while the external adjustment lets you fine-tune the feel within the regulator’s operating range.
Dive and pre-dive control
The dive/pre-dive switch changes the venturi assistance. Use the pre-dive setting when the regulator is out of your mouth to help reduce unwanted free-flow, then select the dive setting for normal underwater breathing as directed in the manual.
A sealed eDX first stage
The over-balanced diaphragm first stage separates its working mechanism from the surrounding water with an environmental seal. This helps keep sediment and salt away from the mechanism and supports cold-water performance. Four low-pressure ports and two high-pressure ports provide connection options for your octopus, inflator and pressure-monitoring equipment.
Heat exchange where it matters
The all-metal pneumatic valve and heat exchanger at the second-stage hose connection improve heat transfer around the breathing mechanism. These are useful features for cooler-water diving; your complete regulator setup and diving practices must still suit the water temperature.
Comfort through the dive
The orthodontic mouthpiece has shaped bite tabs to support a comfortable hold, and the supplied braided hose gives a flexible connection. A universal swivel is an optional accessory rather than a standard inclusion on the DELTA 5.
Choose your colour and cylinder connection
Select Black or White, then DIN or Yoke. The DIN version screws into a compatible threaded cylinder valve; the yoke version clamps over a compatible yoke valve. Choose the fitting and pressure rating that match the cylinder valves you use.
The regulator is suitable for air and nitrox mixtures up to 40% oxygen in its specified Australian configuration. Use nitrox only with the appropriate training and follow the manual’s gas-quality and oxygen-cleanliness requirements.
What’s included
- One eDX first stage with your selected DIN or yoke connection.
- One DELTA 5 second stage in your selected colour.
- One braided low-pressure regulator hose.
An octopus, pressure gauge or transmitter and BCD inflator hose are separate items. You can add an Oceanic Alpha 8 Occy when building your setup; our team can help check the complete configuration.
Care, rinsing and storage
After diving, clean the complete assembled regulator while it is connected to a secured cylinder and pressurised. Fully submerge the stages and connected hoses in fresh water, keeping pressure on throughout washing and rinsing. This helps prevent water entering the internal air passages, where it can cause corrosion.
For routine cleaning, Dive Gear Australia recommends Cressi Neoclean 500 mL or Revivex Wetsuit Shampoo 10 oz, diluted according to the label and thoroughly rinsed away with fresh water. Dedicated oxygen-clean equipment requires its manufacturer’s oxygen-service cleaning procedure.
Lift the regulator out of the water and dry the first-stage connection before depressurising and disconnecting. Fit a clean, dry dust cap, dry the regulator in the shade and store the hoses in loose curves.
Inspect the mouthpiece, hoses and connections before each dive. Arrange an annual inspection by an authorised Oceanic technician and servicing as needed or every two years, whichever comes first. More than 100 dives a year, rental use, extended storage, leaks or changed breathing performance require earlier attention as described in the manual. Internal adjustments and repairs are work for an authorised technician.
Choose your colour and connection above to order. Backorders are accepted; contact our team during business hours if you need to confirm availability for a planned trip.
