Mares Nateeva Junior complete snorkelling set
Put together a junior snorkelling kit with a Mares Pirate mask and semi-dry snorkel, plus a pair of Nateeva Junior adjustable fins. The mask fit and fin size are checked separately, making it easier to choose a pack around the child rather than relying on an age label.
What is included?
- One Mares Pirate Junior mask and semi-dry snorkel set.
- One pair of Mares Nateeva Junior fins in XS, EU 30–34.
- Children’s Lycra fin socks are an optional extra where selected; they are not automatically included.
Select the available component colours using the options. The displayed pack total updates with your choices.
Mask fit and approximate age guide
The Pirate Junior is a smaller mask for junior snorkellers. Approximately 4–10 years is a guide only; individual fit varies. Children of the same age can have very different face widths and shapes. The silicone skirt needs to sit evenly around the face without resting on hair, pressing on the nose or leaving gaps.
Hold the mask gently against the face and check the fit before tightening the strap. Use only enough strap tension to keep it in place. The snorkel mouthpiece should sit comfortably without the child needing to clench their teeth. Practise fitting, removal and clearing in shallow water with close adult supervision.
Mask and snorkel features
- Twin tempered-glass lenses: provide a clear view in a compact, two-window mask.
- Low-volume frame: keeps the internal space relatively small, so there is less water to clear if the mask floods.
- Soft silicone skirt: forms a flexible contact surface around the face; a good seal still depends on the individual fit.
- 360° EZ Adjust buckles: let the strap attachment move into a comfortable position while micro-adjustment helps fine-tune strap tension.
- Silicone mask strap: spreads support around the back of the head without needing excessive tension.
- Semi-dry splash guard: helps deflect surface splashes. It does not close when submerged, so the snorkel can still fill with water.
- Flexible snorkel section and silicone mouthpiece: help position the mouthpiece comfortably instead of pulling against the mouth.
- Lower purge valve and sliding keeper: provide a low outlet for clearing water and let you adjust the snorkel’s position on the mask strap.
Nateeva Junior fin size guide
Choose fins by foot size and fit, independently of the mask. The XS junior fin is a different model from adult Nateeva fins.
| Fin size | EU | UK junior | US junior |
|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 30–34 | 11.5–2 | 12.5–3 |
This is a guide only; individual fit varies. Junior UK and US ranges cross from children’s into youth numbering. Use the EU range as the main reference and check the actual fit before use. No foot-length range in centimetres is specified in this chart.
How to check the fit
Measure both feet while standing, with the heel against a wall and a mark at the longest toe. Use the longer foot when asking for sizing advice. The foot pocket should feel secure without pinching, and the heel strap should hold the foot comfortably. If using Lycra or 3 mm neoprene fin socks to reduce rubbing, allow for their thickness and try the fins with those socks.
Why choose Nateeva Junior fins?
- Adjustable, buckle-free heel strap: offers adjustment positions to help secure the fin within its size range.
- Soft, anatomical foot pocket: supports the foot while the open heel allows strap adjustment.
- Two-material blade: combines a responsive blade with flexible sections for an accessible snorkelling kick.
- Overmoulded rubber side rails: help the blade flex and return during the kick.
- Textured rubber sole: adds a textured contact surface underneath the foot pocket. Take care around slippery entry points.
- Clip-together transport system: lets the fins connect for easier carrying and packing.

Choosing a gift
Check the recipient’s current shoe size with their parent and ask whether they normally need a smaller mask. The rough mask age guide does not predict foot size. If the child is outside the fin range or the mask seal is uncertain, contact Dive Gear Australia before ordering.
The snorkel is for surface breathing only, with its top above the water. Children need close adult supervision and time to practise fitting, removal and clearing in shallow water.
Care and storage
Compatible cleaning products
For standard uncoated mask glass, TUSA TEC52 anti-fog treatment is an option when permitted by the mask and treatment instructions. For a separate neoprene strap cover, if you use one, we recommend Cressi Neoclean Wetsuit Wash or Revivex Wetsuit Shampoo to clean compatible neoprene. Wash that component separately according to its care label and the cleaner’s dilution instructions, then rinse thoroughly and dry in the shade. These neoprene cleaners are not a recommendation for the mask lens or a regulator assembly.
Rinse the gear in fresh water after use and let it dry in the shade before storing it away from heat and direct sunlight. Check straps, buckles and sealing surfaces before each outing. Handle mask lenses gently and avoid abrasive cleaners or flame treatment.
