The Mac Coltellerie Gunster Spearfishing Knife combines an 11 cm nitrogen-steel blade with a Compression-Lock sheath and an adjustable carry angle. Made in Italy, it is a practical choice for spearfishers and divers who want smooth and serrated cutting edges, a shaped grip and flexible mounting options in one knife.
Features and benefits
Nitrogen steel with two cutting edges
The single-piece W 1.4060 nitrogen-steel construction provides strength and corrosion resistance. A smooth edge handles controlled cuts, while the serrated edge gives you another option for rope, line and cord. The 21 cm overall length provides a useful grip without moving into a large dive-knife format.
Compression-Lock sheath retention
Two steel tabs formed from the blade extension engage the sheath. Squeezing the tabs releases the knife, avoiding a separate latch mechanism. Practise inserting and releasing it with your usual dive gloves, and check that it locks fully before entering the water.
A shaped grip with useful handle openings
The polypropylene and thermoplastic elastomer handle combines a firm structure with textured grip surfaces for wet or gloved hands. Its openings reduce bulk, provide a lanyard attachment point and incorporate a shaft-extractor feature for assisting with a stuck spear shaft.
Position the sheath to suit your equipment
The sheath adapter adjusts through 360 degrees, allowing you to choose a carry angle that suits your setup. Mount it on a belt or use the supplied straps for leg or arm carry. Check that your chosen position is reachable and clear of hoses, lines and other equipment.
Colour options and inclusions
Choose Black (GNR11.N) or White (GNR11.W). Each option is supplied as one knife with its rigid sheath, rotating mounting adapter and attachment straps. The main image shows the two colour choices; it is not a two-knife set.
Care and storage
After each use, rinse the knife and sheath thoroughly in fresh water, paying attention to the locking tabs and mounting adapter. Carefully dry the blade, then apply a small amount of silicone spray or a suitable knife lubricant as directed by MAC. Corrosion-resistant steel still needs regular care after saltwater use.
Inspect the edge, sheath retention and straps before diving. Keep the knife securely sheathed when carrying it, store it dry and out of children’s reach, and have a damaged edge attended to by a qualified sharpener.
