Hollis DT 50 Wing For Double Cylinders
The Hollis DT50 wing is a separate buoyancy component for a compatible twin-cylinder backplate system. Choose it when building a rig or replacing the wing on an existing compatible setup, with the harness and backplate selected separately.
Features and benefits
- Harness support. A compatible harness supports the cylinder and positions the wing against the backplate. This wing is supplied separately, so select the harness and mounting components for your intended configuration.
- Configurable weight storage. Optional weight system. Add the listed weight system if it suits your ballast arrangement. Choosing compatible pockets lets you position ballast around the complete system and keep release controls accessible.
- Durable construction. The 1680D laminated Cordura outer adds a protective layer around the air cell, helping it withstand abrasion during regular handling and use.
- Separate inner bladder. A 420D nylon bladder sits inside the laminated Cordura cover. The outer cover protects the air-holding bladder from everyday abrasion during handling and diving.
- Lower-left venting point. The lower-left pull relief valve gives you another way to release gas when that part of the wing is uppermost. Keep its pull accessible after mounting the wing and routing your equipment.
Fit and configuration
Wing component only. A compatible harness, backplate and cylinder attachment arrangement are required separately. Choose enough lift for your complete cylinder and equipment configuration. Lift capacity, ballast-pocket capacity and the BCD’s dry weight describe different things; use the size-specific values in Technical Specs when comparing options.
What’s included
Wing component. Harness and backplate are purchased separately; match the required mounting hardware to your configuration.
Care, rinsing and storage
After every dive, rinse the wing and accessible fittings, along with any attached harness and buckles with fresh water, paying attention to salt and sand around the inflator, dump valves and weight-pocket releases. Follow the Hollis manual’s procedure for the fitted inflation system, including keeping the power inflator pressurised where specified.
Dive Gear Australia recommends Gear Aid Revivex BC Cleaner 10 oz for cleaning the outer surfaces and internal air cell. It helps remove salt, chlorine and residue while conditioning suitable rubber and plastic parts. Use the dilution on the cleaner’s label and follow the equipment manual.
Rinse the air cell internally through the opening specified in the manual, using fresh water and the recommended cleaner dilution when needed. Gently rotate the equipment to reach the inside surfaces, drain through the specified outlet, then rinse until the water runs clear. Drain thoroughly before drying.
Allow the wing to dry in the shade, then store it slightly inflated in a cool, dry place without tight folds or heavy gear on top. Before diving, check that it holds air and that inflation controls, dump valves, any fitted straps and weight releases work correctly. Follow the manufacturer’s service schedule and have leaks, sticking controls or damage checked by an authorised technician.
