Take a back-inflation BCD that is easier to pack. The Scorpion’s folding semi-rigid backplate reduces bulk for transport, while Air-Net padding, integrated weights and zipped pockets provide the support and storage you want once you are in the water.

Useful at home and on trips

The folding support reduces packing bulk, but the Scorpion still includes weight integration, zipped pockets and adjustable lumbar support. It suits a diver who wants one back-inflation BCD for regular use and travel, without giving up enclosed accessory storage.

Features and benefits

• Harness support. The harness positions the BCD around your shoulders and waist. Adjust it over your usual exposure suit to hold the cylinder securely while leaving your chest and shoulders free to move.
• Accessible weight handling. The Flat Lock Aid system secures removable ballast in dedicated pockets. The release handles make the weights accessible when required; check both pockets are fully locked after fitting them.

Care, rinsing and storage

After every dive, rinse the BCD, harness, buckles and accessible fittings with fresh water, paying attention to salt and sand around the inflator, dump valves and weight-pocket releases. Follow the Cressi manual’s procedure for the fitted inflation system, including keeping the power inflator pressurised where specified.

Dive Gear Australia recommends Gear Aid Revivex BC Cleaner 10 oz for cleaning the outer surfaces and internal air cell. It helps remove salt, chlorine and residue while conditioning suitable rubber and plastic parts. Use the dilution on the cleaner’s label and follow the equipment manual.

Rinse the air cell internally through the opening specified in the manual, using fresh water and the recommended cleaner dilution when needed. Gently rotate the equipment to reach the inside surfaces, drain through the specified outlet, then rinse until the water runs clear. Drain thoroughly before drying.

Allow the BCD to dry in the shade, then store it slightly inflated in a cool, dry place without tight folds or heavy gear on top. Before diving, check that it holds air and that inflation controls, dump valves, straps and weight releases work correctly. Follow the manufacturer’s service schedule and have leaks, sticking controls or damage checked by an authorised technician.
