How to measure
- Ask someone to help. Stand upright, look forward and keep your feet flat on the floor. Use a soft tape held close to the body without pulling it tight.
- Height, head and neck: use the measuring points in Waterproof’s diagram.
- Chest or bust: measure around the fullest part, keeping the tape level.
- Waist: measure around your natural waist between your ribs and hips.
- Hips: measure around the widest part with your feet together.
- Neck to crotch: follow the body from the prominent bone at the back/base of your neck to the centre of the crotch.
- Neck to wrist: measure from the same neck point, over the shoulder and along the arm to the wrist.
- Inside leg: measure crotch to ankle for a wetsuit; crotch to floor for a drysuit. Use the matching row in the table.
All body measurements are in centimetres. Select the correct standard, tall or plus fit. For a drysuit, allow room for your usual undergarments; ask us if you are between sizes.

Waterproof W8 5mm Wetsuit Men's – Front Zip – NEOFLEX
The Waterproof W8 5mm men’s wetsuit combines flexible Neoflex neoprene with a front zip and carefully designed seals for scuba divers who want insulation without a restrictive feel. The men’s cut uses shaped arms and legs, while the 5mm construction and soft EXTEND thermal lining provide a substantial layer of warmth.
Features and benefits
- Neoflex stretch neoprene: the microcell limestone CR neoprene and four-way stretch allow the suit to follow your movements. Pre-bent limbs and Wave Flex panels at the elbow and knee bends help when reaching equipment and finning.
- Front entry and WaterDam: the zip opening sits to the side of the neck for comfort. The WaterDam neck arrangement helps interrupt water running down the neck and spine when you turn your head; it does not make the suit a drysuit.
- Reduced water exchange: wide double seal panels behind the main zip slow flushing through the opening. Glued and blind-stitched seams join the panels without stitching fully through the neoprene.
- Double wrist and ankle seals: smooth Glideskin inner cuffs help restrict water movement. The outer zipped cuffs open for dressing and close around your gloves and boots.
- Thermal lining: the stretchy EXTEND interior adds a soft insulating layer against the body while allowing the suit to flex.
- Two draining hip pockets: flexible integrated storage carries items such as a spare mask or SMB. Internal loops provide attachment points and drain valves release retained water.
- Reinforced contact areas: aramid (Kevlar) and Duratex knee panels resist abrasion while remaining flexible. Duratex at the seat and elbows protects other areas exposed to repeated wear.
- Equipment stays better positioned: computer strap anchors and anti-slip surfaces on both sleeves help secure wrist instruments. Polyurethane grip areas at the shoulders and waist help stabilise BCD straps and a weight belt.
- Practical zip controls: YKK Vislon zips and EasyGrip pullers are easier to handle with gloves. A moulded collar tab adjusts the neck opening.
- Contoured spine padding: a 10–12mm pad adds cushioning and insulation over the spine and kidney area.
Choosing your setup
Choose this front-entry design if access to the main zip matters to you. The W8 is a wetsuit with water-reducing seals; it is not fitted with a drysuit-style main zip.

Fit and use
Use the Waterproof size chart and your measurements to choose a close fit with comfortable breathing and movement. Check the neck, wrists and ankles for gaps. Water temperature, dive length, depth and your own cold tolerance all affect the insulation you need.
More About This Model
FRONT-ZIP – High-quality YKK #10 Vislon zipper with corrosion-free slider. Provide consistent ease of operation and durability. The opening is positioned at the side of the neck to enhance comfort and flexibility.
COMPUTER STRAP ANCHOR – To help prevent the computer from slipping off your arm when gloves are removed or the suit is compressed, the anti-slip surface helps it stay in place.
SEAMS – Glued and blind stitched with bonded nylon thread.
Gear Care and Washing
After every use, rinse the suit inside and out in cool fresh water to remove salt, chlorine, sand and other residue. Gently hand wash when needed using mild soap or a cleaner specifically authorised by Waterproof. Rinse thoroughly after washing.
Let both sides dry completely in the shade with good airflow. Support the suit on a broad wetsuit hanger, or drape it over a wide support to avoid stretching the shoulders. Store clean and dry in a cool place away from direct sunlight, heaters, hot cars and sharp folds.
Rinse sand and salt from the zip and close hook-and-loop tabs so they cannot snag the fabric. Never force a jammed zip. Use only the zip maker’s specified lubricant and storage position; ordinary wax or silicone is not suitable for every specialist zip.
Do not machine wash, tumble dry, iron, bleach or use solvents. Follow the supplied care instructions for this suit and its zip before using any cleaning or maintenance product.
