Avatar Men's Drysuit and Undersuit Size Guide - cm

All body measurements are in centimetres (cm).

Avatar's men's body-size chart applies to its matching drysuits and undersuits, including the AIRON 102 drysuit and 901 undersuit. Compare your body measurements with the table, rather than measuring an existing garment.

Size confirmation: XS and SL are not listed in Avatar's published men's chart. Contact Dive Gear Australia for confirmation before ordering either of these sizes.

Avatar suits are supplied in standard sizes; made-to-measure sizing is not offered. Allow for your intended diving layers when checking the fit.

How to measure for your Avatar drysuit or undersuit

All body measurements in centimetres (cm). Use this measuring reference with the correct manufacturer table for your model and cut.

Before you start

Ask another person to measure you while you stand upright and look ahead. Wear thin, close-fitting clothing and use a soft tape marked in centimetres. Hold the tape against the body without compressing it. Record the actual body measurements; do not add extra room for an undersuit. Measure twice and resolve any difference before choosing a size.

Body measurements

Height: Barefoot, floor to the top of your head.
Chest / bust: Around the fullest part. Record breathing out and in.
Waist: For the men’s method, measure around navel level. For the women’s method, mark the natural waist with a narrow belt. Use the same marked line for back and side lengths.
Hips: Around the widest part of your seat and hips.
Body trunk: Start at the centre of the front neck base, take the tape down the front, between the legs through the crotch, and up the back to the prominent bone at the base of the neck. Follow the body contours. If measured in two sections, add them together.
Inner arm: With the arm extended straight out, measure along the underside from armpit to wrist. This is the inner-arm field in the size table.
Bicep: Measure around the widest relaxed upper arm. Tell your fitter if muscle flexion changes the measurement substantially.
Forearm: Around the widest part of your forearm.
Inner leg: Crotch to floor while standing barefoot.
Thigh: Around the thigh, 5 cm below the crotch.
Calf: Measure around the widest calf point. Keep this separate from calf height or the additional circumference taken 20 cm above the floor.

Additional fitting measurements

Shoulder width: Measure between the shoulder points across the back.
Outer arm: With the arm extended, measure from the back-neck bone across the shoulder to the wrist.
Back length: Measure from the back-neck bone down to the marked waist.
Bust height and side length: For fields on the women’s form: front neck base to bust point, and armpit to marked waist. Record these separately.
Foot length: Measure heel to longest toe while standing. Check both feet and record each in cm. Confirm footwear fit with the thermal socks you intend to use.

Check the fit with your diving layers

Try the suit with your intended undersuit and thermal socks. Check comfortable breathing, overhead reach, a shoulder hug and kneeling. Have your fitter check restriction, excess fabric, footwear and seals.

Avatar fit: choose the matching men's or women's standard size. Check an undersuit over your intended base layers, and check the complete combination inside your drysuit. If no listed size matches your measurements, contact us before ordering.

The following manufacturer component sizes relate to an Avatar drysuit. Boots, seals and a hood are not supplied with an undersuit. Confirm the fittings for your exact drysuit before ordering.

Avatar 901 Undersuit Men's

The Avatar 901 Men's undersuit combines a soft, wool-like fleece interior with a smooth jersey outer surface. Its flexible construction, low collar and flat front zip make it a comfortable insulation layer to wear beneath a correctly fitted drysuit.

450 g/m² SHERPA fleece, made from recycled plastic bottles according to Avatar.
Soft inner pile and a smooth grey-melange jersey exterior.
Low collar and flat front zip.
Laminated wrist cuffs with elastic thumb loops.
Wide elastic foot straps help hold the legs in place while dressing.
Opening for a compatible heating-system cable; heating equipment is separate.
Machine washable at 30°C; low-heat tumble drying permitted.

How the Features Help

The thumb loops and foot straps help keep the garment in place while you pull on your drysuit. The smooth exterior makes layering easier, while the fleece traps warmth around the body.

Fit and Use

Compare your measurements with the model’s size guide and check the fit wearing the intended base layers, insulation and footwear. Reach overhead, bend and adopt your normal diving position without pulling tightly across the shoulders or crotch. Select the complete insulation system for your conditions, duration and personal needs; use a drysuit with appropriate training and the supplied instructions.

Choosing Your Insulation

Avatar gives 6–18°C as a guide for the 901. Treat this as a starting point: dive duration, activity, additional layers and your own cold tolerance affect comfort. Check the complete combination of base layer, undersuit and drysuit before diving.

The 901 provides insulation and is not waterproof. Heating equipment, the drysuit and other accessories are supplied separately. Use the blue size-guide box to compare your measurements with the correct men's or women's chart.

Gear Care and Washing

Follow the garment label. Avatar's care table specifies a 30°C machine wash and tumble drying on low heat. Do not bleach, iron or dry-clean.

Close the zip before washing, keep the fleece away from abrasive fasteners, and dry it fully before storage. Avoid leaving the insulation compressed for long periods.
