Apeks XTX200 + XTX40 Regulator Setup Din
The XTX200 combines an over-balanced first stage with an adjustable, pneumatically balanced second stage. It offers a practical blend of breathing control and configuration choice, with environmental sealing and reversible second-stage hose routing for a setup tailored to your equipment.
This package combines the required components listed below, with the available options allowing you to choose the final configuration.
Features and benefits
- Over-balanced first stage. The diaphragm mechanism increases intermediate pressure slightly faster than surrounding pressure as you descend, helping compensate for denser breathing gas at depth.
- Dry environmental chamber. The sealed chamber keeps water and sediment away from the first-stage spring mechanism and supports resistance to freezing in cold water.
- Balanced second stage. Pneumatic balancing reduces the force needed to open the demand valve, helping the second stage respond smoothly as you inhale.
- Inhalation-effort adjustment. The adjustment knob lets you change the effort needed to start a breath, so you can tune the response within the regulator’s operating range.
- Venturi control. The lever changes airflow assistance inside the second stage. Use the pre-dive setting for surface handling and the dive setting as directed in the manual.
- Progressive purge. The purge responds to how firmly you press it, giving you control over the flow used to clear the second stage.
- Reversible hose routing. An authorised technician can configure the second stage for left- or right-hand hose entry to suit your equipment layout.
- Interchangeable exhaust. The exhaust options let you choose a compact layout or wider bubble diversion to suit your diving and field of view.
- Comfo-Bite mouthpiece. The silicone palate bridge supports the second stage with less need to clench your jaw, which can make longer dives more comfortable.
- Heat exchange. The heat exchanger transfers warmth from the surrounding water to the valve area, helping counter the cooling that occurs as gas expands.
- Flexible breathing hose. The braided hose bends readily around your equipment, helping reduce tension at the second-stage connection.
- Angled first-stage ports. The fixed ports help direct supply and instrument hoses around the cylinder. A fifth-port upgrade is available separately where the configuration requires it.
- XTX40 alternate air source. The balanced XTX40 octopus has Venturi control and a visible yellow hose and cover, keeping the alternate distinct from the adjustable primary.
- Protected pressure gauge. The included gauge has a metal case and a protective housing around the gauge and hose connection for everyday handling.
Setup and compatibility
Connection: DIN. Choose the fitting that matches your cylinder valve and its pressure rating.
What is included in the base set?
- 1 × Apeks XTX200 & XTX40 Regulator Set Din
- 1 × Apeks Pressure Gauge (SPG) With Miflex Hose
The list shows the required components at the displayed default quantities. Your selected sizes, connections, quantities and optional extras determine the final package.
What else will I need?
The base package includes the Apeks pressure gauge and Miflex hose. Check the supplied hose and fitting against your configuration.
A regulator bag is not included in the base package; choose suitable protection for storage or travel if you need it. Check whether your BCD or drysuit supplies its inflation hose, and compare any additional hoses needed for your equipment. Confirm the cylinder connection and have the complete fittings and hose routing checked by a qualified technician.
Care, rinsing and storage
After each dive, connect the assembled regulator to a scuba cylinder and open the valve to pressurise the system. Keep it pressurised while fully submerging the first stage, second stages and connected hoses in fresh water. This allows thorough cleaning of the exposed components and hoses while helping prevent water entering the internal air passages, where it can cause corrosion and damage. Keep the cylinder secure throughout cleaning.
For routine cleaning, Dive Gear Australia recommends Cressi Neoclean Wetsuit Wash Neoprene Cleaner 500 mL or Revivex Wetsuit Shampoo 10 oz to help remove salt, chlorine and everyday residue. Dilute according to the cleaner’s label, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water.
Keep the regulator pressurised throughout washing and rinsing. Lift it out of the water and dry the first stage and cylinder connection before closing the cylinder valve, releasing the pressure and disconnecting. Fit the clean, dry dust cap, then allow the regulator to dry in the shade. Store it with the hoses loosely curved, without sharp bends or tension.
Before each dive, inspect the mouthpiece, hoses and connections for wear or damage. Have your regulator serviced by an authorised Apeks technician at the interval specified in its manual, or sooner if it leaks, is damaged or its breathing performance changes. Leave internal adjustments and repairs to a qualified technician.
