Oceanpro Altair Alternate Air Source and BCD Inflator
The Oceanpro Altair combines an alternate second stage and BCD inflator in one compact unit. It places your backup air source at the inflator position and reduces the number of hoses in a compatible scuba setup.
Choose a 24-inch or 28-inch low-pressure quick-disconnect (LPQD) hose assembly. Both options use the same black Altair unit, with the hose length and manufacturer code matched to your selection.
Compact controls for a streamlined setup
- Combined inflator and alternate air source: a practical option for divers who prefer an integrated backup arrangement.
- Low-profile controls: the buttons are designed to be easy to distinguish and operate while wearing gloves.
- Bottom-mounted soft-touch purge: positions the purge away from the front of the unit to help limit the effect of moving water.
- Downstream demand valve with Venturi assist: a serviceable second-stage design for a compatible regulator system.
- Built-in inlet cap: helps keep water and particles out of the disconnected air inlet.
- Two BCD adapters supplied: 3/4-inch and 1-inch fittings accommodate a range of corrugated inflator hoses.
Choosing your hose length and checking compatibility
The 24-inch hose is approximately 61 cm long; the 28-inch hose is approximately 71 cm. Select the length that suits your BCD and first-stage routing without tension or excessive slack. BCD size alone does not establish the correct length.
Have a qualified dive technician confirm the corrugated hose diameter, LPQD connection and complete regulator configuration before fitting. An integrated alternate requires an air-sharing procedure suited to that setup, so practise its use with your dive instructor and buddy.
Prefer a separate octopus? The OceanPro Keppel Octopus Regulator provides a conventional separate-hose alternative.
What is included
- One Oceanpro Altair combined alternate air source and BCD inflator.
- One LPQD hose in the selected 24-inch or 28-inch length.

Care and servicing
Rinse the Altair and its hose after each dive according to the instructions for your complete regulator and BCD system. Keep the regulator system pressurised during washing and rinsing to help prevent water entering the air passages. Do not press the purge while an unpressurised unit is submerged.
Allow the equipment to dry in the shade, protect the disconnected inlet with its cap and store the hose without sharp bends or tension. Before diving, inspect the mouthpiece, hose, fittings and controls and check both breathing and inflation functions. Have a qualified technician service the unit at the manufacturer’s specified intervals and whenever damage, leaks or a change in performance is found.
Our Hallam team can help with equipment selection and servicing, with Australia-wide delivery when stock is available.
