Apeks WTX Custom Single Tank System
Build your setup around the Apeks WTX configurable single-cylinder system. The rear wing leaves the front of the harness open for access to equipment, while the modular construction lets you select compatible weight storage and accessories around the required components in this configuration.
Features and benefits
- Continuous-loop air cell. The donut shape gives gas a continuous path around the wing, helping it move from one side to the other as you adjust your position. Correct wing choice, weighting and trim remain part of the complete setup.
- Personal webbing fit. Continuous webbing lets you set shoulder and waist lengths and position the harness hardware around your body. Take time to establish the fit with your usual exposure suit and cylinder configuration.
- Configurable weight storage. Optional weight system. Add the listed weight system if it suits your ballast arrangement. Choosing compatible pockets lets you position ballast around the complete system and keep release controls accessible.
- Easier packing. Choose a stainless steel, aluminium or travel plate from the offered configurations. Plate choice changes the system’s weight and packing arrangement, so consider both your travel needs and total ballast.
Fit and configuration
Unisex fit. Select the appropriate harness or BCD size and adjust it with your usual exposure suit. Backplate and cylinder bands are not included. Two suitable cylinder bands are required; confirm the wing and final configuration before ordering. Choose enough lift for your complete cylinder and equipment configuration. Lift capacity, ballast-pocket capacity and the BCD’s dry weight describe different things; use the size-specific values in Technical Specs when comparing options.
Care, rinsing and storage
After every dive, rinse the BCD, harness, buckles and accessible fittings with fresh water, paying attention to salt and sand around the inflator, dump valves and weight-pocket releases. Follow the Apeks manual’s procedure for the fitted inflation system, including keeping the power inflator pressurised where specified.
Dive Gear Australia recommends Gear Aid Revivex BC Cleaner 10 oz for cleaning the outer surfaces and internal air cell. It helps remove salt, chlorine and residue while conditioning suitable rubber and plastic parts. Use the dilution on the cleaner’s label and follow the equipment manual.
Rinse the air cell internally through the opening specified in the manual, using fresh water and the recommended cleaner dilution when needed. Gently rotate the equipment to reach the inside surfaces, drain through the specified outlet, then rinse until the water runs clear. Drain thoroughly before drying.
Allow the BCD to dry in the shade, then store it slightly inflated in a cool, dry place without tight folds or heavy gear on top. Before diving, check that it holds air and that inflation controls, dump valves, straps and weight releases work correctly. Follow the manufacturer’s service schedule and have leaks, sticking controls or damage checked by an authorised technician.
